This morning while sleepily putting the kettle on I remembered my old journal from last summer - and the endless list of "what I love" I kept going.

"

  • The name 'rose hips'
  • Nicknames, being called "Rose"
  • Hearing a radio in the other room
  • Mugs of tea
  • Textured sweaters
  • (When it's warm enough) only wearing undies around the home
  • Black and white film/films
  • Falling asleep to classical music
  • Book shops and the smell of read words
  • Connecting with strangers just with a glance
  • Morning light and optomism
  • Reading the paper and a good book in the early hours of the day - hearing fragments of conversation and smelling coffee
  • The sound of pen to paper
  • Feeling comfortable to speak openly to someone
  • Being amazed by all of the connections to be made
  • Wrinkles
  • Entwining legs
  • Walking at twilight during the summer months
  • Planning projects
  • Exploring details of what I think is beautiful
  • Unexpectedly meeting new people
  • Wild gardens
  • Suspenders
  • Passion
  • Being told stories
  • Old illustrations
  • Old men with pipes
  • Distinct mannerisms
  • Clear air and skies

Hi everyone :) First off, I hope you're all (all eight of you that is) are keeping warm during these November days. I'm just waiting to whip out the christmas VHS tapes.

There have been so many changes in the works lately. Because of all these developments, I want to dedicate this blog to being my way of sharing it with those who want to know what's been going on, and to keep my own thoughts more or less organized.

I will be moving to Burlington, Vermont this coming January - just thinking about it gets my blood pumping and cheeks burning bright red. I finally am making a stand for how I know I need to live my life. I am tired of the workhorse mentality that in order to be successful you must follow every path already laid out for you and work yourself silly towards a goal that is more of an elusive fog than a reality. My goal is to be immersed in a working community of all ages, backgrounds and stories - rich with life and fresh air (in every sense of the term). In order to get an education I don't want to be placed in a secluded, life-less, monotonous environment where the start of my life in the "real world" is an intangible few years away. I am alive now, and now is the time for me to contribute, collaborate, communicate and live my life. Starting in the first month of 2011, I will be studying at Burlington College with a focus on photography and documentary studies.

For the remainder of November and the month of December I will be volunteering, working and getting started on multiple projects that I have been conjuring up for a while now...One of which being the Barn Excavation - a series of photographs featuring objects found while clearing out our barn that will be accompanied by short stories.

Other plans for the near and somewhat distant future: artzine collaboration/contribution/creation, radio volunteer work, photo series of "strangers", a study of churches, multiple photographic studies of "multiples of one", and much more that I'll most likely rant on about on another rainy day!

I will continue to post many of my recent photos on this blog - but to see more you can go to www.flickr.com/photos/emmasee or emmaroses.tumblr.com
